PICTURE OF THE DAY

March 28th, 2025

March 28, 2025 I'm returning to the photos I took in 1982, this one at the Olympia in Paris.

When he played "Bullfrog Blues," Rory used to take his Gretsch Corvette with him.

The surprise is that Rory is wearing a "Notre Dame de Paris" t-shirt, which we've already seen on Ted McKenna!

I hope you like it!?!...

March 25th, 2025

Is it the approach of the 30th anniversary of Rory's disappearance?... In any case, his audience on Spotify is making a giant leap, in recent weeks going from around 500,000 monthly fans to more than... 720,000!!!

Festival Interceltic de Lorient, Août 1994 / Celtic festival Lorient August 1994

His last French concert, watch it!

************

It's always a great pleasure to discover a new video of Rory live on stage! This time, from the German TV show "Ohne Filter", from March 30, 1990. A memorable version of "Walking Wounded".

Tuesday, February 18th. Received it today... THE HOLY GRAIL !!!

A great 90's concert!

Another great video from one of Rory's best concerts of the 90s. In 1994, Stuttgart, Germany, August 21st. It's hard to believe that less than a year later, Rory was dead and gone. Disappeared? No, in the mind, spirit and soul of his long-time fan, he will be there forever..

Rory surrounded by his excellent last band:  Mark Feltham (harmonica), David Levy (Bass guitar), Richard Newman (Drums) et John Cook (keyboards).

Rory surrounded by his excellent latest band: Mark Feltham (harmonica), David Levy (Bass Guitar), Richard Newman (Drums) and John Cook (Keyboards). What will you discover?... A Rory wilder than ever. He played his hits with a certain rage, violence and brutality... To the point that at the start of the concert, he injured his right hand by hitting the microphone. The blood on his fist, with a wound that reopened on a surprising flamenco version of "Tattood Lady", did not prevent him from giving, as usual, the best of himself on stage. You will also have a duel harmonica with Mark before a great version of ''Ghost Blues''

WHAT'S BRAND NEW ON THE WEB SITE ?... : A great interview from Anil Prasad (Canada). 1991

Welcome to our most distant visitor and many thanks to Erika, a “Big Uruguay Fan”, for leaving a message on this homepage!

A l'attention des visiteurs francophones : chaque page de ce site comporte une version française (visible par le déroulant) et titrée : TITRE (vf)

In just a few seconds, we were able to feel his humility, his simplicity and his modesty. But when this shy little Irishman enters the scene, he instantly transforms into a virtuoso and supercharged guitarist. A show that we, his fans, never get tired of!

Jacques Mouchet, creator, editor and administrator of RoryGallagher.fr

Maybe Rory defined himself in the lyrics of the song ''Shadow Play'' (''Photo Finish album 1978):  « I feel a little strange inside, a little Doctor Jeckyll, a little Mister Hyde »

Waiting for your testimonials about Rory!... Songs, albums, concerts... Anything!!!

A watercolor I realized from one of my 1982 photographs

I can't imagine anyone who witnessed a Rory concert not going on to become a lifelong die-hard fan!

November 26th, one month after his creation RoryGallagher.fr had 259 visitors and 1501 pages views... Long is the road to success ;-)

I created on October 26th, 2024: www.RoryGallagher.fr first ever French, bilingual English/French, web site who is a tribute to Rory full of some of my 400 never ever published photographs I took between October 1978 and March 1982. I will publish only the best ones. At this time I played 'hide and seek' with security guys because, of course, taking photographs was strictly forbidden (but I did not care, took the risk en do not regret it at all, forty years later I know that it worth!).

The best ever photograph I took from Rory Gallagher,  Pavillon Baltard, Nogent -sur-Marne, France (March 12th, 1982).
I hided my camera and my lens in mountains socks under my trouser and played hide and seek with security guys as it was forbidden to take pictures.

Note from the author:

As a very longtime* and faithful fan of Rory, I wonder why I waited so long to decide I could have the crazy and ambitious project to try to create a new Rory Gallagher's Web Site?

I was frustrated to see that www.rorygallagher.fr domain name stayed available, year after year, until by this end of 2024, when I finally decided, this very day, to buy it!

I was conscious what It will mean and also aware of the mountain I prepared myself to climb, but work never fear me.

So what does drive me to climb this mountain?

First reason: Bonhams auction, where I went on October 16th and 17th, relight the fire!...

Then I learned that only 28% of French people talks and/or understand English language... A good reason to create the first ever French (but bilingual English/French) web site dedicated to Rory Gallagher.

Is it not a little pretentious to pretend to propose something new? Hope this web site will bring some different point of view ('from a fan to the fans') from the great official Rory Gallagher web site: www.RoryGallagher.com and...

May be, another good reason, was to get a solution to enter in contact with Dónal. you can also read the 'open letter' I wrote him.

You will discover that I am crazy enough to propose him his help to co-write a Rory Gallagher’s biography, I get in my heart and soul since so many years?

Why should I make him such a proposal? Once again, the answer is quite clear: very few books about Rory Gallagher were published and most of them, except the brand new 'Rory Gallagher - The Later years', satisfied me!

As the American singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters sing in her great song ‘Wichita’: « if you want something done, you do it yourself »

The best way would be to do it with a close collaboration from Dónal. I cannot imagine, even for a minute, to do it without his essential help.

1985 a friend played me my first Rory's song: 'A Million Miles Away' and this song is still my favorite. 'I fall apart', 'Just a smile' and 'For the last time' are my 3 others favorite songs. 'Rory Gallagher', his 1st solo album, is my favorite album, 'Calling Card' and 'Live 74' are the two other ones. I sadly never got to go and see Rory in concert...

A most excellent idea and very professionally put together, as I would expect from a magazine editor.
Your English is 1000% better than my French but maybe get one of your English friends to run over some of the translation.Like you I was re energised in my love for Rory after the Bonhams sale.
